Osavi Norwegian Cod Liver Oil, 1000mg Omega 3 (Lemon-Mint) - 250 ml.

I have tried an awful lot of Omega-3 supplements over the years. This one from Osavi comes in flavoured oil form rather than the more usual capsules. As someone who often struggles with the more common soft gel capsules this format offers significant appeal, as I don't really want to choke while taking my daily Omega-3. The flavouring does a reasonable job of making this more palatable, but it will not avoid that oily mouthfeel, which may put some people off. The key things to look for with regard to the Omega-3 supplements are the levels of EPA and DHA that they contain. Many products seems to represent good value at first glance, but don't actually deliver the level of potential health benefits that you think they might. Ideally, you should be looking for Omega-3 supplements that deliver a daily combined dose of around 1000mg of EPA and DHA .The suggested daily intake of this supplement is 5ml (one teaspoon), which would deliver 400mg EPA and 600mg DHA, so a combined total of 1000mg, which is just what you should be looking for. But how does the cost of this product does not stack up? The bottle contains 250ml, so taking 5ml per day at the current cost of 12.92 equates to a daily cost of about 26p. I have tried and reviewed other very good products on here that also deliver a combined dose of EPA & DHA of 1000mg or more, but that do so with a daily cost of less than that amount - but I have also come across others that cost quite a bit more per day, so this one probably sits somewhere in the mid-range. This is certainly a product that would appeal to me as I would prefer not to have to suffer the traumatic experience of trying to swallow soft gel capsules every day. Although I could get some (but not all) good quality capsules at a lower daily cost than this oil, I would consider this to be a reasonable price and certainly not extortionate. I really like this cod liver oil, as it provides so many benefits to us. I am always a bit wary of trying out new ones as i hate the taste of fish. I can definitely say that this one hasn't got a fish taste. I am not a big fan oil texture so i mix this in with a yoghurt and goes down very nicely. It tastes a bit minty/ lemon so i don't regret trying this one out.

I take fish oil capsules regularly for their purported health benefits. I've never liked the texture of liquid fish oil as it trickles down my throat- funnily enough the taste doesn't bother me that much because it reassures me that what I'm taking is what is advertised! These have quite a peculiar taste - not unpleasant nor particularly strong. Minty, but not mouthwash minty. It definitely masks the fish taste, to the point that it's barely conceivable. As I expected, I still don't like the oily texture, but my dad does - he's old school! I've given the rest to him to hopefully help with his aches and pains. I've given this product the highest rating because my personal preferences shouldn't get in the way of a quality product. This is a good way for people to get their quota of Omega-3 EFAs for those brave souls who like swallowing oil (and enjoy it!) or struggle with capsules.

If you enjoy the taste and benefits of a daily dose of cod liver oil then this is a good product. Plus, this one has a hint of lemon and mint flavour. We take this each morning and have been using cod liver oil for decades. It is easy to swallow 5ml too. This bottle has an easy pour top. The pricing is what you expect to pay for a quality product and we are happy to add it to our balanced diet.
